What could easily be the youngest ever Dalbeattie Star side, lost to a strong Gretna FC 2008 team in the Southern Counties Challenge Cup. The starting XI contained no fewer than six teenagers and had an average age of under 20, had many good moments in the match with the highlight being Olly Meechan's fine goal. However the Raydale side, containing a number of former Star players, had too much for the Star youngsters and ran out comfortable winners.
